Vandoren Announces Emerging Artist Competition
Posted 11/12/2012

Reed and instrument-accessory manufacturing company Vandoren has partnered with music competition organization Music For All to present the third annual Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition. The contest is open to reedists ages 18–23.

Winners of the competition will perform at the Music For All National Festival and participate in master classes with Vandoren artists, as well as visit the Vandoren headquarters in Paris to meet with the company’s stable of endorsers. Winners will receive a cash award of $1,000 and a Vandoren prize package that includes reeds, mouthpieces and accessories.

Musicians may enter the competition in the following categories: classical clarinet, classical saxophone, or jazz clarinet or saxophone. Applicants must submit a CD recording, along with a track list, the official Vandoren Emerging Artist Competition Application and a recommendation from a university professor or musical director. The repertory on the submitted recording will be based on the category in which the application is submitted. Students must be able to travel for performances between March 14–16, 2013.

To download an application, visit the Vandoren website. All application packages must be postmarked by Nov. 30, 2012.
