George Benson to Appear on QVC Tonight
Posted 5/17/2013

Guitarist/vocalist George Benson will make an appearance on QVC tonight, May 21, at 10 p.m. Eastern Time in support of his forthcoming Concord release Inspiration: A Tribute To Nat King Cole. Benson will also perform a selection of songs from the album during the broadcast and give fans the opportunity to order the 13-track CD from QVC.

Inspiration: A Tribute To Nat King Cole, which is set for release on June 4, features Benson’s renditions of classic tunes from the Nat “King” Cole songbook, such as “Walkin’ My Baby Back Home,” “Ballerina” and “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down And Write Myself A Letter.” Arranged by esteemed composer and bandleader Nelson Riddle, the tracks include accompaniment by the 42-piece Henry Mancini Institute Orchestra. The album also features Benson duets with Tony Award winner Idina Menzel (“When I Fall In Love”) and “The Voice” contestant Judith Hill (“Too Young”), as well as a special collaboration with trumpeter Wynton Marsalis (“Unforgettable”).

Benson, who acknowledges Cole as one of his biggest musical inspirations throughout his career, also includes an early version of “Mona Lisa” that he recorded at 8 years old under the moniker Little Georgie Benson on Inspiration. Over the years he has also shared his adoration of the Cole songbook through a series of live concerts entitled “An Unforgettable Tribute to Nat King Cole.”

“I felt every moment of it,” Benson said about recording the album. “You can’t put together a record like this without putting your heart into it. I got that from Nat ‘King’ Cole. He put his heart into everything he did."

Starting May 21, fans who order the album from QVC will also receive a six-track bonus disc.

To order the album, call (800) 345-1515 or visit the QVC website.
