Fender has released the Limited Edition Terry Kath Telecaster, a recreation of the late guitarist’s 1966 Telecaster, which was his instrument of choice for live performances with the band Chicago. Fender Custom Shop master builder Dennis Galuszka has replicated the guitar in exacting detail: from the Pignose stickers, to the scratches, to the gaffers-tape-sealed rear body route and every other custom element. The guitar features a heavy relic ’52 Tele ash body in aged vintage white with a lacquer finish, a custom ’67 Tele maple neck with 21 frets and a 7.25-inch fretboard radius.
Gretsch Drums has introduced the Ash Soan Signature Snare drum. The U.K.-based session drummer has been putting the prototype through its paces for some time, using it as his go-to snare on a host of recordings. At the heart of this snare is a nine-ply Purpleheart shell finished with a clear gloss lacquer. The dense hardwood takes its name from the wood’s purple hue and delivers a distinctive tone with ample volume, attack and definition.
