Finland Jazz Happening Starts Nov. 2

Tampere, Finland, will host the 25th international Tampere Jazz Happening Nov. 2–5.

The event will begin on Nov. 2 with jazz photo and stamp exhibitions, as well as Kasper Collin’s documentary My Name Is Albert Ayler.

A concert series featuring nearly 100 musicians in 18 line-ups will kick off Nov. 3, featuring artists like Andrew Hill, IsWhat?!, ATOMIC, Dhafer Youssef, Marc Ribot’s Spiritual Unity, Joona Toivanen trio, Raoul Björkenheim, Uffe Krokfors, Markku Ounaskari, Balkan Beat Box and others.

    Hammond came to the blues through the folk boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s, which he experienced firsthand in New York’s Greenwich Village.
