Eugenie Jones may not be the inspiration behind the popular Rodgers & Hart tune, “Have You Met Miss Jones,” but with six critically acclaimed albums, 32 published originals, and a dynamic stage presence, the twelve-year veteran singer-songwriter has become one of the most powerful, compelling voices in jazz.

Eugenie grew up listening to her mother sing in church choirs. When she lost her to cancer, the MBA marketing executive wondered if she could carry on that part of her mother’s life. This contemplation led Jones to the Seattle jazz scene and, a few woodshedding years later, to something she had never imagined - a singing career.

MOVING FORWARD
Eugenie’s journey culminated in her 2013 debut release, *Black Lace Blue Tears*, which received 3.5 out of 4 stars in DownBeat. This album became the first vocal release to win the Earshot Jazz Album of the Year Award, and Jones later twice won the Vocalist of the Year Award.

Her success continued with her 2022 album Players, which featured thirty-two world-class musicians, including jazz masters
Reggie Workman, Julian Priester, Bobby Sanabria, Lynn Seaton, and Bernard Purdie. Players reached #7 on the Jazz Week Top 50.

Jones’ current and sixth release, ‘Eugenie,’ produced by legendary bassist and band leader Lonnie Plaxico, is in its
13th week of charting on Jazz Week, peaking at #4, and at the time of this publication, Jones ranked 13th on Jazz Week’s “Most Spins” list.

WHAT NOTABLE CRITICS ARE SAYING
NEW YORK CITY JAZZ RECORD writer Anna Steegmann describes Jones as having impeccable phrasing and a delightful, soaring voice, coining the release *Eugenie* as a “winner,” adding, “Each track will get under your skin, make you want to get up and dance, feel empowered or experience beauty-in-sadness: one thing it will not do is leave you indifferent.”

JAZZIZ writer Bob Weinberg credits Jones with possessing a fresh and original voice that “captures the golden age of jazz singing. Jones’ signature blend of traditional and contemporary styles continues to captivate with another winning entry in her impressive discography.”

PARIS MOVE USA correspondent Thierry De Clemensat awarded the release her ‘most indispensable’ rating, describing Jones as “one of the most beautiful voices in the United States.”  She emphasizes that Jones is also a consummate interpreter, “who slips effortlessly into the soul of her songs. This ability to embody her music is the album’s most striking feature, further enhanced by custom-tailored arrangements.”

 BEYOND THE MUSIC
In tandem with her music career, Eugenie Jones continues to work in marketing communications and community service. The International Jazz Journalists Association awarded Jones the Jazz Hero Award for her role as executive producer of the Jackson St. Jazz Walk, an event dedicated to commemorating Seattle’s African American music legacy and donating proceeds to local community service nonprofits.
