The new Yoshi’s jazz club and restaurant in San Francisco will start things off with a bang at its November grand opening.

Roy Haynes and the Yoshi’s Birds of a Feather Super Band will perform Nov. 28, when the venue opens its doors to the public. The band includes Gary Burton, Ravi Coltrane, Kenny Garrett, David Kikoski, John Patitucci and Nicholas Payton.

The new Yoshi’s branch will supplement the club’s existing Oakland nightspot. It is located in San Francisco’s Fillmore District, which was the heart of the city’s jazz scene during the ‘40s and ‘50s.

The new club has also announced its winter and spring schedule, available at yoshis.com. Highlights include Chick Corea and the Freedom Band from Dec. 4-9, the Count Basie Orchestra from Dec. 26-31 and the Pat Metheny Trio from Feb. 20-23.
