Allstars to Release New Album

The North Mississippi Allstars have announced the release of their fifth studio record, Hernando. The record, named after the Mississippi town where the trio grew up, will be released Jan. 22. It is the first studio album to be released on its label, Sounds of the South Records. The album was a family affair for the group. In addition to their father, Jim Dickinson, producing the record they also made it in Dickinson’s studio, known as “The Barn.”

“There’s a vibe ‘The Barn’ puts on music,” said guitarist Luther Dickinson. “You don’t have the sterile environment and the feeling of the clock ticking.”

The North Mississippi Allstars plan to launch a national tour in conjunction with the release of Hernando.
