American Jazz Performers To Join Afghan Musicians In London And Frankfurt

  I

The American Voices organization is presenting an onstage collaboration between jazz musicians and traditional Afghan players in London on Feb. 4 and in Frankfurt on Feb. 6.

Jazz Bridges Afghanistan will be performed at London’s Union Chapel on Compton Ave. The Mike del Ferro Trio and vocalist CoCo York will join the British jazz group the Mondesir Brothers as well as a group of Afghan musicians who play the dilruba, tabla rhubab and harmonium. The same line up (except for the Mondesir Brothers) will perform at Frankfurt’s Orient Palace on Vilbeler Landstrasse at 7:30.

Originally, the project brought together American Voices’ pianist and executive director John Ferguson, Mike Del Ferro and CoCo York with Afghan traditional and pop musicians for three concerts in Afghanistan during January 2006.
