Cuban trumpeter and composer Arturo Sandoval was awarded a Latin Grammy for Rumba Palace (Telarc). It was selected as Best Latin Jazz Album by the Latin Recording Academy. Winners were announced Nov. 8 at the 8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards Ceremony in Las Vegas.

Rumba Palace, produced by Sandoval, is titled after his newest nightclub in Miami Beach, Fla. Sandoval has now won five Grammy Awards, his first coming in 1978 for Irakere I, which was selected as Best Latin Album.

“I am thrilled to have received this Grammy,” Sandoval said. “It is always such an honor to be recognized by the Latin Recording Academy and my peers. I am extremely grateful.”
