Beatles Art From Monterey Pop To Be Auctioned

“Peace to Monterey,” a rare psychedelic sketch by all four members of The Beatles, is being offered for public sale.

Bids on the original artwork are being accepted at peacetomonterey.com. “Peace to Monterey” is an original drawing with felt marker, colored pencil and ink—the only known visual art to which all four members contributed.

Drawn in 1967 during the recording of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the artwork was included in the Monterey Pop Festival program book later that year.

Former Monterey Art Director Tom Wilkes kept the sketch in a safe deposit box for nearly 40 years. He is selling the art in connection with the 40th anniversary of the three-day music festival.
