Brazilian Singer Marisa Monte Announces U.S. Tour, New Discs

Marisa Monte will be touring the United States for the first time in six years this November. The visit will coincide with the release of her two new discs, Universo Ao Meu Redor and Infinito Particular (Metro Blue).

Monte’s tour dates include the Palace of Fine Arts Theater in San Francisco on Nov. 4, Royce Hall in Los Angeles on Nov. 8, Gusman Center for the Performing Arts in Miami on Nov. 10 and Beacon Theater in New York on Nov. 14.

The two new releases represent different sides to Monte’s music. Universo Ao Meu Redor (The Universe Around Me) is the singer’s interpretation of classic samba, with some compositions dating back to the 1940s. Infinito Particular (Infinite Private) is a collection of Monte’s own sketches of songs, which she recently completed with the help of such colleagues as Carlinhos Brown and Seu Jorge.
