Brown, Telarc Ink Record Deal

On Feb. 16, Telarc Records announced the signing of an exclusive record deal with Junior Brown. His first album on Telarc—and his first in more than three years—is scheduled for release in late August.

A 51-year-old singer, composer and champion of his electric and steel guitar mutant, the “guit-steel,” Brown has a unique bluesy style that Telarc President Bob Woods says will be an invaluable addition to his label’s lineup. “The more eclectic the better these days,” he said.

Brown has been playing since the ‘60s and has six albums under his wing. He recorded his new, as-yet-untitled album in Nashville, Tenn., with engineer Michael Bishop. It will be released as a 5.1 Surround Sound SACD.
