DownBeat Photographer Jimmy Katz Releases Book

  I

DownBeat contributor Jimmy Katz has released a book of jazz photographs taken over the last 20 years. The American release of JAZZKATZ: Jazz In New York (JazzPrezzo) follows its debut in Europe.

The book features photos of a wide array of jazz artists in various settings, including intimate shots of players in their homes and on the street. Sonny Rollins, Keith Jarrett, Wynton Marsalis and many others grace the book’s pages.

Katz is one of the most sought-after jazz photographers in the United States, having shot more than 300 recording sessions and scores of magazine covers. The frequent DownBeat contributor snagged the award for jazz photography from the Jazz Journalists Association last year. He also released a book of landscapes, Salt Dreams (powerHouse Books) with Dena Katz last year.

The book is available for purchase at truebluemusic.com. For more information on Jimmy Katz, see jimmykatz.com.
