Drummer Jimmy Cobb—who’s recorded with everyone from Miles Davis and Sarah Vaughan to Christian McBride—is seeking help to pay for “24-hour home care,” according to a press release.

Prior to the pandemic, Cobb was advised to take time off from performing as well, the release said.

“Mentally and spiritually my father is as youthful and energetic as ever, but for the past 2 years he’s been dealing with some medical issues that have been causing severe challenges for him physically,” Cobb’s daughter, Serena Cobb, wrote in the note. “Unfortunately he has been unable to receive proper treatment due to financial struggles. ... We’ve often been left in a position to have to choose between medical attention and his basic necessities.”
