Herbie Hancock and Claudia Acuña will join Roy Haynes, Branford Marsalis and a host of others in a concert directed by George Wein to establish a scholarship in the name of his late wife, Joyce, at Boston’s Symphony Hall on Sept. 28.

Entitled “A Celebration of Jazz and Joyce,” the concert opens the BeanTown Jazz Festival, produced by Berklee College of Music. The following day, the festival moves outdoors with free music over six city blocks.
