Historic Harlem Theater Gets a Developer

  I

New York officials have selected Danforth Development Partners to redevelop the vacant Victoria Theater on 125th Street in New York. Danforth plans to transform the Victoria into a cultural center, with space for the Jazz Museum of Harlem, along with a hotel and 91 condominium apartments. The space will include a Classical Theater of Harlem and a theater for the Harlem Arts Alliance.

The selection of Danforth follows a three-year process, much of which involved getting reassurances from the developer that the project would include minority subcontractors, jobs for Harlem residents and housing for low- and moderate-income tenants.
