Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra With Wynton Marsalis Sets Fall Tour Dates

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis will embark on its 2008 fall tour, entitled Big Band Bash, which will begin and end in New York. The 15-piece band will travel across the United States and to Toronto, Canada, performing selections from the jazz big band’s canon.

The tour will kick off Sept. 18-20 with performances at their home theatre, Frederick P. Rose Hall, with special guest Ahmad Jamal. They tour moves on to East Lansing, Mich., on Sept. 24, and to Detroit on Sept. 27, where the band will premiere a Marsalis composition for symphony and jazz orchestra commissioned by Michigan State University and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra.
