The 28th Annual Jazz Festival Saalfelden has announced the lineup for this year’s event, which will take place August 23-26 in Saalfelden, Austria.
The bill features more than two dozen American, Austrian and other international acts. The lineup includes Lunarplexus, the Katzutoki Umezu Kiki Band and Abraham Inc. featuring David Krakauer, Fred Wesley and SoCalled. The weekend will also feature two world premiere pieces commissioned for the festival—one performed by the JazzWerkstatt Workshop Ensemble and another performed by Henry Threadgill and Zooid featuring the Salzburg Young Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition, a series of free concerts will be presented in the Saalfelden town square.

James Brandon Lewis earned honors for Artist of the Year and Tenor Saxophonist of the Year. Three of his recordings placed in the Albums of the Year category.
