Jazz Showcase Secures New Digs In Chicago

Chicago’s Jazz Showcase is finalizing plans to re-open in a new location after losing its lease last year, said Joe Segal, the club’s owner.

The venue, a longtime staple of the Chicago scene, will be reborn on Polk Street at Dearborn Station. Segal said he hopes to open its doors sometime early next year.

The Showcase was forced to relocate last year from its spot in the city’s popular River North neighborhood. Segal, 81, founded the storied club in 1947. For years, it has been a stomping ground for top jazz musicians who come through Chicago.
