Lineup For JVC Jazz Festival-Newport Announced

The JVC Jazz Festival-Newport has announced its lineup for its 2007 edition, which will take place Aug. 10-12 in Newport, R.I.

On Aug. 10, JVC will be taken back to 1957 with its presentation of “Newport ‘57 Revisited: The Legacy Of Ella, Billie & Basie” featuring concerts by Dianne Reeves and her band and the Count Basie Orchestra with guest Nnenna Freelon.

The JVC Jazz Stage on Aug. 11 will see the Branford Marsalis Quartet, the Marcus Miller Band, The Dave Brubeck Quartet, Zap Mama, Bruce Hornsby with Jack DeJohnette and Christian McBride, and the Joshua Redman Trio. Other stages will see Chico Hamilton and Euphoria, the Monk Legacy Septet, the Anat Cohen Quartet, and more.

Performances on Aug. 12 include B.B. King, Al Green, Etta James and the Roots band, Paquito D’Rivera’s Panamericana Ensemble, Slide Hampton, Roberta Gambarini, James Moody and more.
