New Ben Allison Disc Due

Bassist Ben Allison’s next disc, Little Things Run The World (Palmetto) will be officially released on Jan. 22, 2008.

Allison says that the disc combines rock with jazz and folk influences. Along with six new originals, the bassist also covers guitarist Steve Cardenas’ “Language Of Love” and John Lennon’s “Jealous Guy.”

“I’ve been experimenting with fusing American rock, folk and jazz elements into a cinematic whole for some time,” Allison said. “This disc represents a fuller realization of melodic, harmonic and rhythmic concepts I’ve been pursuing over the past several years.”

Drummer Michael Sarin, trumpeter Ron Horton and saxophonist Michael Blake join Allison and Cardenas on the recording.

Palmettto will sell Little Things Run The World exclusively on its web site starting on Dec. 4.
