New Box Set A First For John Lee Hooker

  I

Blues legend John Lee Hooker will receive the career-spanning box set honor on Oct. 31 with the release of Hooker (Shout! Factory).

This 4-CD set culls material ranging from a 1948 recording of “Boogie Chillen” to a version of that same blues standard recorded 50 years later with Eric Clapton.

“This is phenomenal, to have all of my father’s music pulled together,” said Hooker’s daughter, Zakyia Hooker. “It cuts through a wide swath, from music first recorded at a 1949 house party and an old acoustic spiritual to his later music. My father would have been smiling.”
