New Lee Konitz–Ohad Talmor Big Band Recording Released

Lee Konitz’s 80th birthday celebration continues to result in new recordings. The most recent, Portology (OmniTone), features the saxophonist’s collaborations with conductor Ohad Talmor and Portugal’s Orquestra Jazz De Matosinhos.

The 18-piece big band recorded with Konitz and March 2006 and the set features compositions that he wrote with Talmor along with his more familiar tunes. The latter part of Portology is a five part suite based on his “Sound Lee.”
