October 31 Proclaimed Illinois Jacquet Day In NYC

On October 31, Mayor Michael Bloomberg will proclaim it “Illinois Jacquet Day” in the City of New York. The proclamation marks a celebration of the tenor saxophonist’s 80th birthday, for which Jacquet is spending a week leading his big band at the Jazz Standard. An official event for the proclamation will take place at the Jazz Standard on the night of the 31st.

From Oct. 29-Nov. 3, the Illinois Jacquet Big Band will be at the Jazz Standard. The music charge is $30, and there is no third set on Nov. 1 and Nov. 2.
