Organists Plan McGriff Tribute in Philadelphia

On Nov. 8, organists Joey DeFrancesco, Trudy Pitts and Papa John DeFrancesco will hit the stage at the Harold O. Davis Memorial Baptist Church to pay tribute to Philadelphia’s Jimmy McGriff. The show will take place at 7 p.m., and cost $20 for adults, $15 for students and seniors. The church is at 10th and Roosevelt Boulevard.

Other musicians scheduled to perform include Don and Cici Williams, Byron Landham and Colleen McNabb, and many others. Master of Ceremonies for the evening will be Bob Perkins, Jazz Radio Host, WRTI, Philadelphia. The featured jazz organists will each play a set and then
there will be a jam session at the end with three organs being played at the same time.
