Rhino Records will release Aretha Franklin’s Rare & Unreleased Recordings From The Golden Reign Of The Queen Of Soul on Oct. 16.

The two-disc collection combines unreleased demos, outtakes and B-sides of Franklin in the studio. The release also includes a live duet with Ray Charles on a televised salute to Duke Ellington.

“We’ve discovered a treasure trove of vintage Aretha that’s nothing short of thrilling,” Franklin producer Jerry Wexler wrote in the album’s liner notes. “Aretha’s outtakes are the sort of performances most artists would be proud to call first choices.”
