Sherrie Maricle and the Diva Jazz Orchestra to Tour Europe

Drummer Sherrie Maricle will lead her Diva Jazz Orchestra on a european tour.

Tour dates for the all-female ensemble include:
April 30 and May 1: Swinging Hanover, Hanover, Germany
May 3 and 4: Lionel Hampton Jazz Room, Le Meridien, Paris
May 9: Watchung Arts Center, N.J.
May 16: Kennedy Center, Washington, D.C.
May 17: Deerhead Inn, Delaware Water Gap, Pa.

Maricle has two CDs due out this spring. What The World Needs Now features the Diva Jazz Orchestra with vocalist Carmen Bradford. The other is from Five Play, Maricle’s female quintet. It will be released by Arbors. The recording features Maricle on drums, Tomoko Ohno on piano, Noriko Ueda on bass, Jami Dauber on trumpet, flugelhorn and cornet, and Janelle Reichman on tenor sax/clarinet.
