Spanish AYVA Music Releases Discs in the United States

The Barcelona-based AYVA Music has announced its first series of discs to be distributed in the United States.

The company has released Cuban drummer Francisco Mela’s Melao and is planning on issuing American bassist Esperanza Spalding’s Junjo in August. Cuban bassist and singer Alain Perez’s En El Aire will be released in January.

“We don’t want to close our market to only one style of music,” AYVA artistic director Pablo Valero said. “Although we are a jazz label, our artists are globalized not only in their diverse cultural influences, but also in the styles of music they embody and incorporate in their work.”

AYVA plans to focus its distribution on the U.S., Spain, France, England and Japan.
