Summer @ Lincoln Center

Lincoln Center has announced the lineup for its summer festivities. The Lincoln Center Festival features Elvis Costello and the 52-piece Netherlands Metropole Orkest at Avery Fisher Hall on July 13. The performance will celebrate Costello’s 50th birthday and the Orkest’s first trip to the states. On July 21, DJ Spooky will bring Transmetropolitan to the festival at Alice Tully Hall. Inspired by Duke Ellington’s Afro-Eurasian Eclipse, the performace will feature Vijay Iyer, Ibrahim Quraishi, Ryuichi Sakamoto, London’s Eclectic Method, that Subliminal Kid himself, and more.

Lincoln Center Out Of Doors will feature six free outdoor concerts in August at either the Damrosch Park Bandshell or the North Plaza. Performances include Sonny Rollins’ “Jazz Takes Flight”; Melba Joyce; Puerto Rico’s 13-piece Plena Libre; The Heath Brothers with Dr. Billy Taylor and a special guest celebrating Jazzmobile’s 40th anniversary; Ronnie Cuber and Gary Smulyan playing Gerry Mulligan; and Chick Corea.
