Tipitina Foundation to Host Jazztival

  I

Tipitina’s will offer Fess Jazztival April 24–May 4 as an alternate option to the larger Jazz Fest running concurrently in New Orleans. It boasts numerous concerts including artists Blind Boys Of Alabama playing with Allen Toussaint and Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Trombone Shorty and Orleans Avenue, Galactic and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk.

The Tipitina’s Foundation seventh annual Instruments A Comin’ benefit concert on April 28, at the original Tipitina’s Uptown Music Club, will feature the city’s musical performers, all of whom are donating their time to support school music programs. The past six benefits have raised more than $1.3 million worth of new instruments for the next generation of New Orleans musicians, but there are still many schools that need assistance. Performances this year include Galactic with Johnny Vidacovich and George Porter Jr., the Radiators, Dragon Smoke (Stanton Moore, Ivan Neville, Eric Lindell and Robert Mercurio), Rebirth Brass Band, Walter “Wolfman” Washington and more.
