Trombonist Robin Eubanks Joins SFJAZZ Octet

SFJAZZ announced the spring 2008 touring line up of its all-star octet, the SFJAZZ Collective. The Collective returns in 2008 with trombonist Robin Eubanks replacing Andre Hayward. The Collective includes tenor saxophonist Joe Lovano, trumpeter Dave Douglas, vibraphonist Stefon Harris, alto saxophonist Miguel Zenón, pianist Renee Rosnes, bassist Matt Penman and drummer Eric Harland.

For the 2008 season, the group will divide its repertoire between new compositions by the band members and the works of saxophonist Wayne Shorter.

March 12: Wharton Center for the Performing Arts, East Lansing, Mich.
March 13: Michigan Theatre, Ann Arbor, Mich.
March 15: Zellerbach Auditorium, Berkeley, Calif.
March 19: Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, Tracy, Calif.
March 20: Lobero Theatre, Santa Barbara, Calif.
March 21: Royce Hall, UCLA Center for the Arts, Los Angeles
March 22: National Hispanic Cultural Center, Albuquerque, N.M.

Following each year’s season, SFJAZZ Records releases a multi-CD set representing the Collective’s full annual repertoire in concert. SFJAZZ has also released the Collective’s first-ever concert DVD, SFJAZZ Collective Live At Jazz À Vienne, recorded in Vienne, France, in July 2007.
