Barbados Jazz Festival Rearing

The lineup has been set for the 11th Barbados Jazz Festival, taking place Jan. 12–18 in various venues around the island.

The first half of the week features Joe Sample and the Errol Bradshaw Jazz Project on Monday, Jan. 12; Adrian “Boo” Husbands and Michael Cheeseman on Tuesday, Jan. 13; and Herbie Hancock and Lizz Wright on Wednesday, Jan. 14.

As a midweek break on Thursday night, the Colony Club Hotel will host a “dinner set” featuring Emilio Morales with Ruiz and Raquel Hernandez.

The second half of the week features India.Arie and Kirk Whalum on Friday, Jan. 16; Poncho Sanchez, Hiroshima, Richard Bona and Kem on Saturday, Jan. 17; and Fourplay, Kal David, Steve Oliver and Danah on Sunday, Jan. 18.

Each event has a separate ticket and price ranging from $25 to $40. The dinner set runs for $100. A season ticket excluding the dinner is available for $160.

BET Event Productions has promoted and marketed the festival this year for the first time. The Barbados Jazz Festival inaugurates the company’s year, with festivals in St. Lucia, Bermuda and Anguilla to follow.
