Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola Hosts Gillespie Festival

  I   Dizzy’s Club Coca-Cola, the new club at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s new home, Frederick P. Rose Hall, has kicked off its programming with a Dizzy Gillespie Festival. From Oct. 21–Nov. 7, the club celebrates its trumpet-playing namesake with a series of shows honoring the various aspects of Gillespie’s musicianship. The new club has sets at 7:30 and 9:30 every day of the week plus 11 p.m. sets on Friday and Saturday nights, In addition, the club has 11 p.m. late-night hang sets Tuesday through Thursday, and after the last artist set on Friday and Saturday. On Mondays, the club features “Jazz Stars of Tomorrow.” There’s a $30 cover plus $10 minimum for most sets, $15 cover plus minimum for the Monday night sets and a $10 cover for the late-night sets.

Other guests at the club after the festival include Monty Alexander, Joey DeFrancesco, Gonzalo Rubalcaba, Marcus Roberts, Cyrus Chestnut and Eric Reed.
