Duke Ellington Jazz Festival To Light Up D.C.

The 2nd annual Duke Ellington Jazz Festival will be held throughout Washington, D.C., from Oct. 4–8. This event features ticketed and free events, with a concert in the National Mall as the highlight performance. Paquito D’Rivera and Roy Hargrove are serving as artists-in-residence.

Other performers will include Dr. John, Mavis Staples, John Scofield, Geri Allen, Randy Weston and Mike Stern. The Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra will perform Ellington’s arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker Suite.”
