Columbia/Legacy will commemorate the 90th birthday of Miles Davis with the release of Everything’s Beautiful, a visionary exploration of Davis’ music featuring reimagined interpretations by Grammy Award-winning keyboardist Robert Glasper.
Everything’s Beautiful will be available on Friday, May 27—the day after Davis’ 90th birthday—and will incorporate Davis’ original recordings into new collaborative soundscapes featuring guest artists Bilal, Illa J, Erykah Badu, Phonte, Hiatus Kaiyote, Laura Mvula, KING, Georgia Ann Muldrow, John Scofield, Ledisi and Stevie Wonder.
“I didn’t want to do just a remix record,” Glasper noted when discussing the 11-song set. “My idea was to show how Miles inspired people to make new art.”
“Violets” is the latest track from Everything’s Beautiful, featuring Phonte and co-produced by 9th Wonder. The track features a sample of Davis’ “Blue In Green” from his iconic 1959 album Kind of Blue. Stream the track below:
Glasper and his band are currently on tour in Europe. He’ll return to the United States on April 30 to perform at The White House, in Washington, D.C., for a celebration of International Jazz Day.
Everything’s Beautiful is also available for pre-order now at the official Miles Davis store on milesdavis.com.
