  I

The Terrassa Jazz Festival — now in its 25th year — will be held from March 7 through April 2 in Terrassa, Spain. More than 275 artists, some established musicians and others those just emerging on the jazz scene, will perform in 42 concerts at various venues across the city including the Alegria Theatre and the Nova Jazz Cava.

Latin jazz band Afro Blue will open the festival, followed by first time artists like bassist Avishai Cohen, pianist Myra Melford, flautist Jamie Baum, organists Gary Burton and Melvin Rhyne, trumpeter Nils Petter Molvaer. Notable artists who are making their way back to the event after some years include John Scofield, Joachim Kühn, Dave Schnitter, Frank Foster, and Scott Hamilton among many other. In addition to performances, saxophonist Johnny Griffin will receive the Jazzterrasman 2006 award.

In celebration of its anniversary, the festival will be featuring additional activities, such as various exhibitions, conferences, a new film series, a record fair and a lindy-hop camp.
