Caramoor Concert To Feature ‘Conversations With Cachao’

  I

The Caramoor International Music Festival in Katonah, N.Y., will present the world premiere of Conversations With Cachao, a Paquito D’Rivera composition commissioned for the festival, at a June 30 concert event.

D’Rivera, composer-in-residence at the Caramoor Center for Music and Arts, drew inspiration for the piece from the music of legendary Cuban musician Israel “Cachao” Lopez. The piece is a concerto for contrabass, clarinet/alto saxophone and sympony orchestra.

The performance will be staged as part of the first annual Caramoor Cavalcade, an all-day music event held throughout the grounds of the Caramoor estate. The concerts begin at 1 p.m., and tickets are $15-67.50.
