Chicago Hosts Latin Jazz Festival

  I

Chicago will play host to an evening of free outdoor Latin jazz at the JazzCity Latin Jazz Festival on Friday.

Performing in the heart of Chicago’s Puerto Rican community at the open-air boathouse in Humboldt Park, the three bands taking the stage include the Afro-Cuban sounds of Richie Pillot’s Havana, the traditional Latin jazz of Conjunto and Darwin Noguera’s Evolution Trio, a group that brings contemporary jazz into Latin forms.

The event kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and is part of the city’s annual JazzCity series sponsored by the Chicago Park District and the Jazz Institute of Chicago.
