Christian McBride To Hold First Village Vanguard Performace In 10 Years

  I

Bassist Christian McBride will return to the Village Vanguard June 26–July 1 for his first shows as a leader in more than 10 years at the club.

In honor of these dates, McBride has assembled A Christian McBride Situation, a new quintet featuring Eric Reed on piano, Steve Wilson on alto saxophone, Warren Wolf on vibraphone and Carl Allen on drums.

“The Village Vanguard is easily the most hallowed ground in jazz,” McBride said. “With the way I’ve tried to develop musically within the last decade by experimenting with different styles and approaches often with electric instruments, I didn’t think the Vanguard was the best place for me to play. But enough is enough. It’s time to go back.”

Tickets for the shows are $35 per set.
