Jazz and Politics Come Together for New York Concert

  I

An all-star lineup of jazz musicians will get political June 14 at The New York Society for Ethical Culture. A mix of generations and styles, the artists have joined forces with Concerts For Kerry, a grassroots organization raising awareness and money for John Kerry’s bid for presidency through music.

Dee Dee Bridgewater, Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Michael Brecker, Nicholas Payton, Charlie Hunter, Christian McBride and Jeff “Tain” Waits will be on hand, along with tap dancer Savion Glover and host David Alan Grier.

Tickets are currently on sale and are either $100 for general admission or $250 for VIP tickets, which include a post-concert reception with the artists. A limited number of $50 student tickets are also available.

All proceeds go to Kerry’s campaign. No word on whether the Senator will be attending.
