  I

Santa Monica-based public radio station KCRW-FM 89.9, along with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association, will present KCRW’s World Festival at the Hollywood Bowl starting June 24.

Brazilian percussionist Carlinhos Brown—who headlined the very first show in 1999—will open this year’s concert series, now in its ninth year. He will share the stage with Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow, who are set to perform Brain Placement: 7 Inches of Fury, the follow-up to their Brainfreeze album.

Other highlights include the Spirit of Armenia night July 29, Burning Spear and Sly & Robbie on August 12 and Macy Gray and Brazilian Girls on August 26.
