Maynard Ferguson’s Final Recordings Out May 4

Contemporary Productions will release Maynard Ferguson’s final CD, The One And Only Maynard Ferguson, on May 4.

Finished three weeks before the Aug. 23, 2006, death of Ferguson, The One And Only spans nine tracks, five of which are new takes on songs like “The Days Of Wine And Roses” and “Besame Mucho.” Other tracks include three original compositions by Denis DiBlasio, and a new composition by Ferguson’s son-in-law, pianist Christian Jacob, titled “Lost Horizons,” which features Ferguson on flugelhorn.

The One And Only Maynard Ferguson costs $20 and will be sold exclusively through Ferguson’s web site.
