Telluride, Colo., may be known for a music festival of another stripe, but from Aug. 3–5 the city will host the 2007 Telluride Jazz Celebration, the 31st edition of the event. And on hand to transmit the sounds of the festival across the airwaves will be a New Orleans jazz and heritage radio station, WWOZ-FM.
The station, 90.7 on the FM dial in New Orleans, will host a weekend-long broadcast from the John Scofield Town Park Stage, which will feature the likes of Bill Frisell, Roy Hargrove and Soulive, as well as Scofield, the festival’s “Guest of Honor.” In addition to its radio broadcast, the station will stream the event on its web site, wwoz.org. For more information about the Telluride Jazz Celebration, visit telluridejazz.org.
As Ted Nash, left, departs the alto saxophone chair for LCJO, Alexa Tarantino steps in as the band’s first female full-time member.
