The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz announced April 2 that it is relocating its Jazz Performance graduate-level college program from Los Angeles to the campus of Loyola University New Orleans.

Herbie Hancock, Wayne Shorter and Terence Blanchard joined the incoming class for performances during the announcement celebration.

The relocation is part of the institute’s “Commitment to New Orleans” campaign, which is a four-year investment aimed to help in the revitalization and restoration of post-Katrina New Orleans.
