Yoshi’s To Add San Francisco Location

Yoshi’s will open a jazz club and Japanese restaurant in the Fillmore Heritage Center in San Francisco, adding a branch to its existing Oakland nightspot.

Located at 1300 Fillmore St., the new 28,000-square-foot, two-story venue will feature local, national and international jazz artists, with seating for 417 in the jazz club and nearly 371 in the restaurant and lounge.

The club will occupy the ground floor of the Fillmore Heritage Center, a 13-story mixed-use development that also includes a 6,000-square-foot Jazz Heritage Center, a French-Southern food restaurant, 80 condominiums and a parking facility.

Developer Michael Johnson of Em Johnson Interest said he hopes the project will resurrect the Fillmore District’s storied jazz scene, which hit its heyday during the 1940s and ‘50s.

Yoshi’s San Francisco will open its doors in November. The headline act for the grand opening has not yet been announced. For more information, see yoshis.com.
