Byron Releases Ivey-Divey

  I

On his fifth album for Blue Note, Ivey-Divey, clarinetist Don Byron digs into the self-titles 1946 Lester Young Trio recording with Buddy Rich and Nat Cole for inspiration. Centered around a trio with pianist Jason Moran and drummer Jack DeJohnette, the album was released on Sept. 21.

The Ivey-Divey Trio, which performed at the Monterey Jazz Festival in September, will play a series of dates in October with Billy Hart taking over for DeJohnette at the drums (except for the San Francisco date, which will include DeJohnette). Dates for the tour are as follows:

Oct. 8: New York, Symphony Space
Oct. 17: San Francisco, SFJAZZ Festival
Oct. 27: Chicago, HotHouse
Oct. 29: Albuquerque, N.M., (Outpost)
Oct. 30: San Diego, The Neurosciences Institute
Oct. 31: Seattle, Earshot Jazz Festival
