Irving Stone Tribute and Party Planned

Tonic in New York will host a tribute to Irving Stone, one of the world’s greatest jazz fans who past away last month, on July 5.

From 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. there will be an open mic session for Sharing Memories of Stone. Then, from 3 p.m. till Midnight, audiences will see an outstanding lineup including John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Susie Ibarra, Marty Ehrlich, Charles Gaye, Chris Speed, Roy Cambell, Shelley Hirsch, Tim Berne, Angie Sanchez, Tom Rainey & Tony Malaby, [breath], Sylvie Courvoisier, Ikue Mori, Steven Bernstein, Butch Morris, Oscar Noriega, Steve Dalachinsky and others.

Tzadik will record the concert for a double CD. Proceeds from the show and CD sales will go to the Irving Stone Trust, which will award the money to selected musicians.
