Manhanttan Center Studios donated its facilities to record a fundraising tribute disc for the family of the late journalist and jazz musician Tom Masland.

Pianist Rodney Kendrick performs his own compositions, like “It’s All About The Groove” and such standards as “Nature Boy” on the disc. He also co-produced the project and enlisted the help of trumpeter Roy Hargrove, saxophonist Don Walden, vocalist Frank Senior and other musicians.

“One thing champions have in common in this world is their search for the truth,” Kendrick said. “We wanted to honor that strength and character in Tom.”
