The fundraising event, which will take place at the Park West Theater in Chicago, kicks off with a 4:30 p.m. cocktail reception. Dinner and performances by Jazz Links students begin at 5:30, followed by remarks and awards presentations at 6:30 p.m. Joy and her trio are scheduled to take the stage for a concert beginning at 7 p.m.
The not-for-profit Jazz Institute of Chicago is currently celebrating its 55th year. The performance by Joy, a rising star who continues to sell out venues around the world, will contribute to making this year’s Gala one of the organization’s boldest yet.

Hammond came to the blues through the folk boom of the late 1950s and early 1960s, which he experienced firsthand in New York’s Greenwich Village.
