Trombonist Josh Roseman To Release Live Record

  I

Trombonist Josh Roseman—who has toured and recorded with Dave Holland, Dave Douglas, Steve Coleman and Don Byron—will release his third album as a leader in September.

New Constellations (Accurate Records) was recorded live at Birdland in Vienna. The album is an homage to one of the founding fathers of ska—the visionary trombonist Don Drummond.

Roseman said his goal was to push Drummond’s compositions into open territory, employing deep dubcraft and the full complement of avant-jazz methods along the way. Following the live recording, Roseman gave the tapes a radical makeover with the help of Brooklyn electro-pranksters, GoodandEvil, resulting in a unique blend of live and studio sensibilities.
